A Sunny Winter's Day in Brooklyn

On a sunny day back in January, I was so fortunate to be able to coordinate the wedding day of two amazing artists, Alexandra and Erich. The love these two have for each other is not only so clear from how they interact with each other, but also in how much care and effort they put into their wedding day. From the colorful handprinted posters they hung throughout the venue and the luminous ceremony backdrop they built, to the way they incorporated unique and special family details, Alexandra and Erich are cut from the same cloth. Erich and I hired Davia to be our wedding coordinator for our January 2015 evening wedding at The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY. From the very start, Davia was patient, knowledgable, organized and readily available to work with us at any level we felt comfortable with.

Davia sent us a very helpful breakout and price structure of her wedding coordinator and design services and made it very simple to add on or adjust services as we got closer to the wedding.

Davia is first a trained designer. She uses a tasteful eye and creative energy to truly elevate any aesthetic. Her design skills reflect in her work ethic, she shows great attention to detail, is very resourceful, and able to edit when needed. Her artistic abilities come through in her wedding design, she is an expert at pulling together color and visual inspiration to create a beautiful atmosphere. Davia is incredibly organized and knowledgeable about event scheduling, event planning systems and software, the technical aspects of event spaces, and logistical matters concerning catering and entertainment services.

Leading up to the wedding we met on 3 different occasions. Our first meeting was 6 months out to nail down the basic framework of the event. Davia followed up with an informative email to help steer us to the best wedding organization documents to use, helpful blogs to follow, and some suggestions about logistics and winter wedding design and decor ideas.

At our second meeting Davia helped us consolidate our vendor list and assisted us with building a wedding day schedule. She was particularly helpful when it came to assigning the right amount of time for each portion of our ceremony and reception, and careful to make sure the entire event moved smoothly and never felt rushed or delayed.

At our third meeting the week of the wedding, Davia went through the final day-of schedule with us line by line, provided helpful insight, advisement and several thoughtful logistical and design suggestions that proved very helpful on our wedding day.

Davia has absolutely mastered wedding day coordination. She was professional and calm at every turn, and warmly directed our wedding party, families, vendors and guests to keep everything moving on schedule. In a very short period of time, Davia made sure the event space was set up (lots of logistical details and people to manage), that our family wedding photos were complete on time (two large families to wrangle), that our guests were all served during cocktail hour, that our ceremony was correctly paced, and that Erich and I had some uninterrupted precious moments after we were married. Davia expertly handled the mending of the broken bustle on my dress, the babysitter taking fussy children back to the hotel, an early livery car pickup for an elderly guest, and several other unexpected wedding day blunders that came up. Davia was both at ease and completely in control of our wedding day and it went on without a hitch thanks to her hard work and talents.

Davia took great care to make sure Erich and I had a beautiful, meaningful and fun wedding celebration. Erich and I would recommend Davia to any couple planning their dream wedding!​
